Our Solar System

All about our own space

Earth. Our home. You may not think much of it. A lot of people just think of it as our home. But there is much more to it than you think!

Earth is the only planet we know of that can sustain life. The reason for this, is because it is in the ”habitable zone”. Basically, there are 3 ”zones” in a solar system. The inner zone, the hottest zone where water cannot exist in liquid state, the habitable zone where water CAN exist in liquid state, and the outer zone, were water can exist but it’s mostly frozen. And I wouldn’t drink it if I were you.

Out of the 4 rocky planets in our solar system, Earth is the largest with a diameter of 12,742 km (7,917.5 mi).

Earth has a huge atmosphere which is mostly composed 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 0.9% argon and 0.03% carbon dioxide. It also contains water vapor! It can also repair itself. Sadly, though, humans are destroying the atmosphere faster than it’s repairing itself.

The reason Earth has so many mountains and hills is because it is geologically active, meaning it can also fix craters.

Isn’t that fascinating? Humans have been studying Earth for countless years, and still they haven’t discovered everything about it!

Well that’s all for now, I hope you learned a thing or two!
